To best achieve the goals for the Louis Stokes Alliance For Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program here at the University of Connecticut, we are taking a proactive and multi-faceted approach to increase the recruitment and retention of students from underrepresented ethnic and economic backgrounds. Recognizing the variety, breadth and depth of different programs addressing diversity here on campus, we want to enhance, incorporate and integrate with the already existing programs that share our goals in science, mathematics, engineering and technology (SMET). We work with established outreach programs and have started development of new programs.
